Masks, Mystery, and my Favorite Time of the Year...

"A man speaking in his own person will give you lies. But give him a mask, and you'll receive the truth."

I officially ask for Julian Assange's forgiveness for paraphrasing his thoughts, but the theme of those words is such a good one. Perhaps that's why so many people (this girl included) wish that Halloween came more than once a year. The ability to get lost, at least for a while, in an identity other than your own...it's sexy, isn't it? Who would you want to be? What would you like to become? The possibilities become endless.

I'm so happy and grateful that in a huge sense, books grant us the wish-come-true of getting Halloween all year 'round. The portal lies in the pages of every book we open. The transportation is our own imagination, be it a Steampunk airship, a Venetian Gondola, a millionaire's limo, a cowboy's horse...the possibilities are limitless, just like the truth behind all of our sparkling masks.

As I prepared this post, it gave me the chance to reflect on a personal fascination with the subject of dual personality that gets granted through the magic of masks. I loved getting to explore it a bit during some key scenes in the first book of my W.I.L.D. Boys of Special Forces series, Saved By His Submissive

I have to be honest: it was a real kick in the proverbial pants to take my two strapping alpha boy soldiers, Garrett Hawkins and Zeke Hayes, and turn them into a pair of urbane, world-weary billionaires for the sake of rescuing their women. I can't say much more without giving away spoilers, but if you'd like to win a free copy of the book, in electronic or print form, respond to this post. I'll pick the winner on Sunday, October 27th.

Have a frightfully fun Halloween...exploring whatever sexy truths lie beneath your mask!

  4. Thanks for the giveaway. Gotta agree with you on the mask it leaves a person with a air of mystery. It could also make you feel a bit excited at the prospect of seeing what's underneath.

  5. oh man, I would love a copy of this book. If no one knew who I was, I probably would have been a little more risqué when I was in my younger days. I have always been the quiet one. Thanks for the giveaway. lacombejc at suddenlink dot net
